In the early to mid-2000’s, there was a little-known group of musicians starting to turn heads in Omaha with each live performance of their characteristic “Rock N Soul Funk.” Audiences took notice and were left thinking they might be experiencing one of the city’s up and coming best kept secrets.

Suspicious Fifth, made up of brothers Tom and Brian Phillips on guitar and bass, along with drummer Scott Evans and vocalist Nate Rempe, were artfully crafting original music born on the heels of Omaha’s infamous 90’s rock scene, and they took aim at becoming part of the next wave for a fan base loyal to supporting homegrown talent.

Songs that both depict gritty rock and maintain smoother pop sensibilities were intertwined with hard funk jamming to keep listeners captivated. The technical and dynamic prowess shining through each track helped make their sound unique, showcased in two studio albums Divided and Strike Anywhere.

Then life happens, and the gigging for the band stopped (although members have stayed active in other projects). Fast forward approximately 15 years, and the band is ready to re-emerge from the shadows to play a reunion of sorts, stoke the fire a bit, and bring some heat to a cold stage. Come get in on the secret and support a homegrown music exposé.
