thanks for nothing

Posted: November 29th, 2007

so, the holiday of giving thanks is over and done. are you happy about that?

everyone likes to complain about the holidays… too much family/too much food/i need a drink. i don’t know, i think it’s pretty alright to take off your shoes and sit around with people you like and eat too much. what’s to complain about there?

i guess thanksgiving was a week ago already… where does the time go?

the king kahn and BBQ show was last night. how much fun was that? we had a great turnout and i think everyone had a pretty amazing time. there are not a lot of shows coming up, but there are sure some good ones. antelope is playing saturday and john from georgie james says they are the best band around. he has demanded that i pay close attention to them this saturday. so, you know where i will be. oh, and the stay awake are opening so that will be nice. micek’s first time on the slowdown stage. i am sure he will find something to complain about. come check it out.

we have hot tea!

BLOGGING IS HARD!

Mmm Coffeeit looks like the slowdown blog took a crap a mere 3 days in. i knew it would be tough to keep up with, but 3 days? really?? come on.

the new coffee machine has arrived and it’s a real hit. no one asks for coffee until you brew some, then everyone one wants it. with a shot of baileys, of course. speaking of baileys, that shit is expensive!! it costs about the same as a bottle of makers mark. no kidding…check it out next time you are at the store. which would you rather have? that’s what i thought. we need to get a creative winter drink going so people stop drinking bailey’s (sorry liquor distributor).

it’s craig d’s first night behind the slowdown bar. he’s going to now tell you how it’s going:

So far so sweet. Chillin’ back here behind the bar with Ben. Made a few drinks, checked on some guy who was shaving in the restroom getting ready for his photo booth picture, and drank some coffee. The first night of the post holiday weekend has been going really well.

thank you, craig d.

also, slowdown currently has the freshest urinal screen in omaha. mens bathroom, tall urinal. you are welcome.

over and out.

we’re having a party. it’s a birthday party for our 1% friend. the slumber party crew will be out in effect. it should be a good time. dj frankie troia with conchance, capgun coup, bear country, and honeybee are all playing. it’s saturday night. people are frisky…?

you can feel the winter setting in. i can feel it in my bones. it makes me want coffee all the time. i think we are going to get a coffee machine - well, we have one - but we’re going to get a better one. one that will make our blue line beans taste more like they do when you get a fresh cup from chris himself. the machine will have a hot water dispenser on it too. that will allow us to make hot chocolate and have some hot teas available as well.

i ordered it online so hopefully it shows up soon. then we have to figure out how to get wholesale tea. i am sure united foods sells it (that is where we get all our organic snacks and kombucha and such), but they have a $500 minimum order and that is proving to be someone difficult to deal with. maybe we will just have to pick some up from the grocery store.

oh, we are also thinking about getting some additional food options. maybe some pre-made sandwiches or something. not sure who does that locally. i wonder if great harvest offers something like that. we’ll check in with them sometime soon. or maybe we can just get blue line to send us some sandwiches once they open up down the block. i wish they would hurry up with that!

mango is for the birds

Kombuchahow come nobody likes the mango kombucha? it’s my favorite flavor. cj and i are the only ones that like mango. it’s everybody else’s least favorite flavor. ‘they’ all like gingerberry. i don’t really like gingerberry. i’ll drink it, but it won’t be my first choice.

anyway, we didn’t get rid of all the mango before it went bad, so we’ll probably never get any mango in again. me and cj will have to travel 15 miles to whole foods to get our mango kombucha. balls.

my first blog

Posted: November 14th, 2007

i have never had a blog before. i guess i am only just over 5 months old, so maybe it’s not that big of a deal. but it seems like everyone else has had a blog forever. it’s my time to get in the game.

we got a new tap beerĀ  from new belgium brewing called ‘2 below’. as soon as the ‘fat tire’ runs out it is going in that slot. it’s a winter brew. i haven’t actually had it yet, but brian has. he likes it. he says it’s “hoppy”. seems like we have a few hoppy bears on tap these days. hopluia, anchor steam, and luna sea ESB. i am more into darker beers, but to each their own. guiness is my favorite. we have a few new stouts and porters as well. the odell’s cutthroat porter is pretty tasty, but i can only have one or two before the chocolate goodness gets to be too much.

eric bachmann is playing here friday. that is going to be sweet. our photo booth appears to be broken again. WTF! i feel like that thing is broken more that it isn’t. that’s what we get for buying an old film photobooth instead of going with one of those crappy digital ones. oh well, we’ll get it going tomorrow.

alan wants candy. bring us some.

later.
